Design Summer Intern

Wide Eye is an award-winning creative agency that does cutting-edge digital work for progressive causes, campaigns, and world-changing organizations.

We are seeking a Design Intern for a remote position (U.S. based candidates only). It is a paid, 40-hour per week seasonal internship, from June 5, 2023 – Sept 1, 2023. The successful applicant will work directly with our designers and senior designers on motion, social, branding, and print design projects. Applicants must have a portfolio, a working knowledge of the fundamentals of visual branding, layout, interactive design, motion, and social media, excellent communication skills, an eagerness to learn and a “can-do” work ethic.

Responsibilities

Design
  • Support designers by designing and managing client brand assets (logos, style tiles, style guides, illustrations, email templates, social media graphics and online ads).
  • Help create web mockups, style treatments, inner page designs and supplementary components for interactive client projects.
  • Help produce print and online style guides to document brand standards (messaging, language, colors, fonts, illustration, iconography).
  • Create social media graphics, ads, signage, merch, and animations.
  • Collaborate with design and project team members and clients to develop unique solutions for clients.
  • Produce clean files that are digital, and print production ready.
  • Assist in creating new company marketing materials, including case studies, sales documents, social media graphics, and copywriting.
  • Help the design department optimize and document processes and workflow.

Experience / Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in, or recent graduate of, a design program with a focus in branding, social impact, or interactive OR be able to demonstrate relevant experience and interest in design
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to present complex ideas and bold ideas to a range of audiences
  • Ability to perform in a fast paced and high-impact work environment
  • Ability to see the big picture, stay organized, prioritize, and manage time
  • Strong integrity, humility, and discretion

Bonus Points

  • An understanding of nonprofit organizations and campaigns
  • Knowledge of Figma.
  • Love of typography
  • Experience with/passion for motion graphics and animation
  • Interest in progressive politics and progressive causes
  • Expertise in web accessibility and DEI design

Hourly rate: $20/hr, 40 hours per week
